This round yet vibrant Merlot grows on clay soil that is well drained, ideal for the varietal. Grapes are harvested at the end of September, later than the traditional harvesting time, to reach full ripeness. Some battonage, time on the lees, and ageing in stainless steel results in a wine that remains fresh but does not lack depth. After tasting Manaresi's Merlot, it's no wonder why the hillsides surrounding Bologna are becoming well known for producing this grape.
