Joy School, made from Chardonel (along with their wine Ghost in the Scene) are the first products of CWC's journey into making affordable and delicious wines from grapes with non-vinifera parents. These varieties are easier to farm, many times ripen in our climate better than classic European grapes, and can be produced at accessible prices.  CWC believes that grapes that grow well here and don’t have to be priced as luxury goods are the path to a true and sustaining mid-Atlantic wine culture. Sure, they feel different than French or Italian wines, but that’s how it should be.
