Westmalle Extra (ABV 4.8%) was introduced to the general public for the first time in 2021, but it's part of a tradition as old as the brewery itself. In 1836 the monks began brewing beer for their daily use at table, which was lower in alcohol than the Dubbel and Tripel developed later to be offered to the outside world.
This golden blond Trappist beer has a refreshing and thirst-quenching character. With its fruity notes and rich aromas, the Extra stands for a taste experience that is truly Westmalle.
Brewed with the purest ingredients: selected barley varieties, a balanced blend of hop flowers, home-grown yeast, and pure spring water. Just as with Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel, it is a top-fermented beer, including the typical fermentation in the bottle.
