We Tried Some Ghia Cocktails

Thu, Dec 28, 23

We have been thinking about NA cocktail options for our parties and we wanted to try Ghia products to make a few fruity, fizzy, celebratory cocktails. We did just that and we're here to share our findings!

The Basic Ingredients

All of the cocktails play on the same theme - fruits and fizz, so we picked up pears, oranges, lemons, a honeydew melon, a lot of club soda, and some raspberry seltzer. We made four different cocktails, one pear, one orange, one melon, and one simple Ghia spritz. We ended up using the classic Ghia for all of these, but keep in mind that Ghia is now offering a berry flavor! The classic Ghia brings a certain bitter tartness to all drinks from its gentian root, ginger, and yuzu. This was a fun opportunity to taste the Ghia interact slightly differently with each fruit!

A Little More About Ghia

A word from Melanie, the founder of Ghia:
"I spent my childhood summers near the Mediterranean, where Aperitivo is a way of life. I remember my mother and grandmother making giant jugs of limoncello, using freshly-picked lemons, that we’d pour into the night (and sometimes mornings) until Fall came around.

The best part of those memories, and drinking in general, is that it transports you to a space that’s about simple pleasures. It’s about being together. Connecting. Letting loose. Laughing. Savoring great music and even better friends.

We wanted to make a drink that would take you to this place without numbing the night; a drink you’d remember in the morning.

So we created GHIA, a spirits-free apéritif adapted for modern times. It’s an invitation - to take a moment for yourself, to watch the sunset, to move from work into play and to take care of your loved ones."

The Drinks

You'll notice that all of the instructions are very similar. That's because we wanted to choose options and ingredients that are widely accessible. Ghia has many recipes that include more complicated preparation and more specialized ingredients. Those cocktails are also fabulous, BUT the simple cocktails below are sure to be a hit with anyone at any time. All are adapted from Ghia's recipes. Visit their website for some more involved ideas. Enjoy!!

We made our own juices for each drink by blending the fruits, minus peels and seeds, until smooth and straining the solids out afterwards. Fresh!! Feel free to adjust your juice and club soda levels to taste. Maybe you want something a little fizzier or a little sweeter - these are all very forgiving and there's plenty of room for personal taste. Rosemary is a favorite, but mint or other herbs also work if you feel inspired.

We did this one without ice and it was still great!
